Product Description
One of the hottest new games. The Rubik's TouchCube seamlessly blends cutting edge technology with the world's #1 puzzle to create the first completely electronic, solvable Rubik's Cube. Featuring touch sensor technology on all 6 sides and lights in every square, slide the lights with a simple swipe of your finger to mimic the moves of the original Cube. To eliminate false inputs or moves, the TouchCube uses a motion-detecting accelerometer to determine which side is facing up and active. The Rubik's TouchCube also includes a built-in solver, so now anyone can easily get a hint or learn how to solve the Cube step by step.

Don't buy it. Wait for a better version.  1 vote for Rubik
This is not for real cubists. It might look pretty with all the lights blinking sitting on your desk but if you are a real cubist with a couple dozen memorized algorithms you use to solve a scrambled cube then this is crap. You memorize your algorithms by memorizing which center color is on top and moving sides, backs, bottoms, and middles and you cannot do that with this cube. You can only move the top so you have to move the cube around and try to remember how to make your move and which side is really the top because now you are holding your top on your left - you get the idea. Also, making one simple move takes at least a second to swipe your finger and wait for the cube lights to move. So you're waiting for the lights to move before you can make your next move. If you want an expensive toy to add to your cube collection that looks pretty then fine, go for it, but if you want to really solve a cube with your memorized algorithms then stay away from this thing because you will want to be throwing it up against the wall in no time. Better yet, use the money you would have used on this and get yourself a V-Cube.

Great idea, terrible execution  2 vote for Rubik
For the price, you would expect a great build and ingenious programming. Instead, you get a product made from plastic you would expect from a bargain bin toy and programming that makes no sense whatsoever.

So much is wrong with it that it far outweighs the pros of the thing.

Pros:
+Nice packaging, obviously ripped off from apples old iPod box designs.
+Bright LEDs make for a brilliant display.

Negatives:
-CHEAP PLASTIC. At this price, I would think they would have used tempered glass, or at least a nice quality acrylic.
-Only one side--the side facing up is interactive at one time. This means tedious movements for simple algorithms.
-You need to wait for the rotation animation to finish before you make the next swipe which means algorithms which should take less than a second end up taking much longer because each swipe takes at least a second to register, animate and finish.
-Rotation of the top row is terrible. Two corners rotate the top row clockwise while the other two rotate it counterclockwise. Corresponding rotations are parallel to each-other. Why you cannot use every corner to turn both ways is beyond me. The top it off, the swipes are usually not registered regardless of how accurate you swipe.
-Display mode on the stand, a strong point of the product ONLY GOES FOR A COUPLE MINUTES before automatically shutting off despite the manual indicating that its display should go for 15 minutes . It auto-scrambles itself (while keeping your personal save data) and then solves on its own. It's pointless decor considering you need to press the buttons on the sides to reactivate display mode.
-Display mode uses battery instead of running off the stand's power. If it runs out of battery before the display mode automatically shuts off, it will flash red (signaling that it is out of battery) and beeps obnoxiously until it powers off. Keep in mind this is while it is supposedly charging. I've never heard of anything running out of battery while it's docked and charging.
-BATTERY LIFE - each charge lasts maybe 15 minutes. Forget about taking it out of the house and to top it off, it takes about an hour for a full charge.

There you have it. What could have been a brilliant interactive display piece is basically ruined by poor engineering, build quality and programming idiocy. Seriously, how hard would it have been to program the thing to have a display mode that doesn't shut off on its own?

so cool  5 vote for Rubik
this was a gift for my brother who has already mastered the rubik's cube. he solved this rather quickly but really enjoys it and told me that it is the best gift he received! It is a lot of fun and the topic of many conversations~

Rubik's TouchCube is not like the real Cube  3 vote for Rubik
If you are used to solving the traditional Rubik's Cube, then you will find the TouchCube to be a challenge. If you memorized the algorithms for the original cube, then you will have to really think mentally about how to manipulate each side to reach the desired algorithm. Only the top side can be manipulated, so you will have to rotate the cube in many ways to rotate the sides since the sides actually need to be the top side to allow for a manipulation. Confused? Yeah, go to [...] to watch a video to explain it better. Do your research before you buy.

Must have for cube aficiandos, but....  4 vote for Rubik
If you're a serious cubist, this is a must have. This thing is WAY cool. I've been waiting a long time for someone to finally build a true virtual cube.
I confirm the poor battery life. With the state of battery technology today, they should have done better.
I like the control options, but....
They could have added more sounds pretty easy.
The scramble and solve modes could have instant options no you don't have to wait. Sometimes I just instantly want the scrambled cube (battery life), and sometimes I want a solved one to try a new combo.
The feel of the touch really could be better. I'm adjusting but I still get many re-swipes because the first swipe didn't register right. I think most of mine now are because I try to run the moves to closely together and the cube can't handle the speed. And the accidental moves are annoying.
BTW, it really costs too much here. I bought it on the largest auction site for $30. Some places are still charging $150!
